Education and Background

My parents moved to the United States from Spain in 1961.  I was born in New York City and grew up in Greenwich Village and Woodside, Queens.  After attending Regis High School, I graduated from Columbia College with a B.A. in Economics.  In 1987, I received my J.D. cum laude, from the Fordham University School of Law, where I served as Articles Editor on the Fordham Law Review.  After graduating from Columbia College in 1984, David graduated cum laude from Fordham University School of Law 1987. He served until 1989 as law clerk to the Hon. David N. Edelstein, former Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.  David worked until 1991 at the international law firm of Shearman & Sterling. He then joined the boutique firm of Hertzog, Calamari & Gleason, where he was a partner until he joined Winston & Strawn as a partner in 1999.  David handled high profile complex litigation matters representing accounting firms, financial services firms, and consumer products manufacturers in complex commercial and product liability matters.

Legal Experience

After graduating from law school, I served as law clerk to the Hon. David N. Edelstein, former Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.  I then joined the international law firm of Shearman & Sterling where I worked on M&A, antitrust, and arbitration matters. I then worked at the boutique firm of Hertzog, Calamari & Gleason on banking, securities, employment, accountant liability, and business litigation, and became a partner in 1996.  In 1999, I joined Winston & Strawn as a partner, where I handled high profile complex litigation matters representing accounting firms, financial services firms, and consumer products manufacturers in complex, high-profile, commercial, professional liability, and product liability matters.  While at Winston, I was resident in the Geneva office handling international litigation matters for over two years.  In 2010, I began my individual law practice.

Other Stuff

I’m a husband to a smart, beautiful, and loving wife, and a father to three amazing children, my greatest contribution to the world.   When I’m not practicing law, I am a Boy Scout leader, teach religion to 7th graders at my church, spend time with my family and friends, read history books, and like to cook.  I also am a native Spanish speaker and speak French.
